Closing Phone Apps Too Often

One of the most common mistakes mobile phone users make is believing that closing apps regularly improves the phone’s battery life.

WRONG!

This is an urban myth and simply isn’t true – in fact, it can actually do more harm than good.

It is commonplace to close software applications on a computer where it does become necessary at times, which is where this myth probably started, but it isn’t necessary for mobile operating systems on phones and tablets.

Mobile operating systems such as Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS, are designed to manage running apps in the background for you. If the device requires more resources, the device’s operating system will automatically close those apps which haven’t been active for some time.

Force closing apps when you’re done with them or too often means the device’s operating system has to start afresh the next time you want the app, requiring more power and resources, and taking longer to do so.

Force closing apps if they’ve stopped working as expected – otherwise, leave the phone to work its magic as and when required.
